Never underestimate the power of the sunbeam! That is so adorable baby and cats curled up asleep together. Elvis is too funny with his"unhand me", snicker snicker :)
Years ago, my mother took pictures of my brother and me asleep each in our separate rooms, and each with a cat sleeping next to us in a perfect imitation of our individual sleeping positions.
A few months ago my husband adopted a stray tabby. On Tuesday I took her in to be spayed but it turned out she had already been spayed. Now she is barely eating and doesn’t feel like doing anything except curling up next to the heater. If she’s not eating better in the morning, I’m going to have to take her back to the vet. Good thoughts for Lilly.
A lovely & frigid “Howdy from Hoosierland” to the Mega Orb! Today’s strip just melts the cold & ice away! Remembering you & hubby, Lady Bri! Also many thanks to Biskits for your sweet post yesterday! Made my morning when I went back to read final posts. You have a heart of gold! :-) aMaizing! Have a great day & Hope Sooti’s doing well!
My white kit discovered that not all sunspots are warm. He ran out on the screen porch while I was letting the dogs out, hopped on the wicker loveseat into a sunny spot, realized -5 temps do not a warm spot make, and demanded immediate readmittance to the house. Sun thru a window inside on the other hand was just fine.
As far as I know, this is very common. When the aforementioned niece was about a year and a half old (I was visiting at the time) they got a kitten from the RSPCA. Of course, the kitten first started exploring, but when my niece lay down for a nap, the kitten immediately went and lay down next to her. She-Who-Is-The-Current-Mistress-Of-Our-Fates usually sleeps next to my son, though he is far from being a toddler.
Good morning and Happy Purrsday to my fellow BCN orbsters, their orbabies, and our Mega-Orbster, Georgia. Yum Yum is on the back of a recliner, in a ray of sunshine and close to the fireplace, in deflated cat position #3. Stay warm, everyone; it is -28C here in Barrie, with a wind chill of -30C. Brrr.
The story is that Tarzan was raised in the jungle by the animals. However, that is incorrect. It was Mowgli in The Jungle Book who was a “cub” and slept with the litter. Even that was based on the Roman myth of Romulus and Remus, twins who were raised by wolves.
Wish I could post a picture of the formerly feral kitty (Zoe) we brought in about 6 months ago. She’s mama to Zara and grandma to ZsuZsu & Zebulon. Last night she fell asleep on my legs, and was so relaxed & confident that she turned upside down.
When my kids were growing up we had several Irish wolfhounds. My son played on the floor inside the hole that one of the dogs made sleeping in a curled doughnut shape.
I see Puck and Lupin will not the the child get in the way of a good sunbeam either. They can’t really move him so they have to share but they can lay on top of him and not get in trouble for it. The woman actually praises them for it. See “How to get away with stealing a sunbeam from humans and get praise”’ in Chapter 8 of the kitty handbook.
My parents had two cats, a mother and adult daughter. The mother had rejected the daughter as a kitten and my mother had saved her and bottle fed her. I think the mother cat always saw this as a rejection of her judgement and just hated that kitten her whole life. We had east facing windows and a long sofa. The mother cat would take the sun spot on the far end of the sofa early in the day and leave the colder end to the daughter. As the sun rose and the sun spot moved, eventually it was on the daughter cat. When the mother cat woke up and saw her sun spot stolen, she would run right over and slap the daughter cat until she got up and relinquished the spot. Such is life.

In the first panel, is Elvis’s paw position to muffle his voice so he doesn’t wake the Baby?

Funny, I mush have the only cats in the world that do not play in boxes or lay in sun spots. Come to think of it, none of my cats ever did.
