Roy Moore said that he didn’t remember ever dating that girl, but did he always got those young girls’ mother’s permission to date them. Are Mother’s different in Alabama? I mean, do mothers there encourage their teenage daughters to date 30 year old men? Maybe southern evangical Christians believe in marrying off their younger daughters to older men as soon as they can manage it?
Some of his supporters are comparing him to Joseph and Mary. Joseph is said to have been older than Mary, so it’s perfectly OK if Moore goes after little girls.
We need to talk about the segment of American culture that probably doesn’t think the allegations against Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore are particularly damning, the segment that will blanch at only two accusations in the Washington Post expose: He pursued a 14-year-old-girl without first getting her parents’ permission, and he initiated sexual contact outside of marriage.
That segment is evangelicalism. In that world, which Moore travels in and I grew up in, 14-year-old girls courting adult men isn’t uncommon.
I use the phrase “14-year-old girls courting adult men,” rather than “adult men courting 14-year-old girls,” for a reason: Evangelicals routinely frame these relationships in those terms.
That’s how I was introduced to these relationships as a home-schooled teenager in the 1990s, and it’s the language that my friends and I would use to discuss girls we knew who were in parent-sanctioned relationships with older men.
One popular courtship story that was told and retold in home-school circles during the 1990s was that of Matthew and Maranatha Chapman, who turned their history into a successful career promoting young marriage.
Most audiences, however, didn’t realize just how young the Chapmans had in mind until the site Homeschoolers Anonymous and the blogger Libby Anne revealed that Matthew was 27 and Maranatha was 15 when they married.
Libby Anne also drew mainstream attention to Matthew Chapman’s writings, in which he argued that parents should consider marriage for their daughters in their “middle-teens.” At that point the Chapmans stopped receiving quite so many speaking invitations.
Moore has threatened to sue the Washington Post over the report alleging he pursued sexual relationships with teenagers as young as 14 when he was in his 30s. A number of Republicans withdrew their endorsements of Moore following the article, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which severed a joint fundraising agreement that benefited Moore’s campaign.
McConnell has called on Moore to end his Senate campaign following the accusations of sexual misconduct. Moore’s wife Kayla Moore is gathering evidence that the sex abuse accusers were paid. The Grand Old Perverts are becoming the party of pedophiles, the only ones who still support him.
MIKE MENARD and IMOFFENDEDTREATMESPECIAL, liberals, the left and Dems (whatever you want to call them) have condemned Weiner, Weinstein and all of those that have been sex offenders. Clinton / Lewinsky was consensual and the other women who accused Clinton changed their stories several times..“Anyone from Hollywood” is a bit sweeping, don’t you think? I wouldn’t say “anyone from Fox” despite the large numbers of sex offenders and their defenders that are at Fox.
.Sean Hannity has defended Moore against the PEDOPHILE accusations. And his followers are breaking their Keurig coffee machines because they won;t advertise on Hannity’s show anymore. These same folks seem fine with Trump having walked in TEENS’ dressing rooms, propositioning a year old and braggug about grabbing women.
When there is a political party that matches the population in the gender of its candidates and takes a strong, enforced, proactive stand against misogyny, I’ll starting listening to their “not us” claims.
I think one aspect of this toon is just wrong. The girl on the bicycle doesn’t appear to have reached puberty, and there haven’t been any stories of Roy Moore going after pre-pubescent girls.

It’s all OK just so long as you are a “Real American” and claim to be a Christian.

Roy Moore shouldn’t be a problem, unless you are related to him.
