I should also point out that the quote is unverified, but I also didn’t make it up as it’s tied up in the general mythos of Andrew Jackson. So until the day it’s ever disproven, I will hope and pray it’s true.
“… any state should have the right to nullify federal law”. He sounds like the philosophical ancestor of Senate candidate from Alabama, Roy “No One’s More Bat-$#i! Crazy Than Me!” Moore.
I suppose that Henry Clay and Daniel Webster will be asking for equal time sooner or later. (Hey, come to think of it, was CALHOUN the “devil” in “The Devil and Daniel Webster”?)
Suppose you cut your grass on the Sabbath and the church wants to put you in jail. If you can quickly move to another state and avoid prosecution, what’s wrong with that? But now that federal courts can trump state courts, the individual has nowhere to hide. A large federal government is too dangerous for the individual.

I googled John C. Calhoun, and looked at the images. You have pretty much nailed him.
One image was labeled: “I hate Yankees and I never die.”
Kevin Bacon could play him
