Common sense is such a valuable commodity. It is too bad that it’s so hard to explain to people who do not want to listen to reason. Reasonable controls and regulations does not equate with confiscation. I think Mr. Gorrrell, that you have totally missed the point of all the discussions that have been going on recently. I have seen no arguments for confiscating all guns. I have only seen arguments for Making it harder for the irresponsible distribution of military-style weapons. Perhaps you need to look at the problem from a different angle. I hope you never have anyone pointing a semi-automatic at you, that’s not the angle I’m proposing. I am suggesting that you take a look at… perhaps Switzerland or Australia’s gun laws and see if they are reasonable or not for a civilized country. I have always been a strong proponent of the Second Amendment but obviously my interpretation and yours are totally different.

Absolutely, Gorrell. As we all know, ANY gun regulation of ANY kind is exactly the same as total confiscation of all guns and abolition of the second amendment.

There are probably many people without guns who could be trusted with them, unfortunately there are many people with guns who SHOULD NOT be trusted with them. The NRA and the republicans don’t care.

People with guns are killing people. I guess you prefer “thoughts and prayers” and to continue with roughly one mass shooting per day in the USA.

I do not think anyone should have to worry about either losing their gun or being shot by one. The problem seems to one of ideology and laziness of the part of the representatives to deliberate and work out a compromise. Does the public always have to be the lowest priority, well after corporate and ideological goals?

Maybe it would help if the representatives could picture their own grandchildren, children, spouses, mistresses or whoever they hold dear as the victims?
