If Envy is attempting to summon all the 7 deadly sins, I wonder if the attempted summoning in this story is where Gluttony was dragged off to in the end of the previous story. If you followed that story, Gluttony was also interested in a “Barber girl” but did not get the chance to eat her before being dragged away to a meeting that it claimed it was not ready.
What would Envy do if Voss “dared to fail him”? Could it remove all Voss’ accomplishments and leave him the stupid German speaking soldier he was in the beginning?

Interesting touch … the green gem, which Envy infused with part of itself, actually shows green in Mal’s black & white world.
