Here’s a stupid one: I once started choking from a drink of water that for some reason got lodged in my throat – and in the total airway obstruction means in which I learned in First Aid. While it was happening I remembered thinking that if I self-induced the Heimlich Maneuver but to no success, eventually I’d pass out but that’d be ok because it wouldn’t be long before my throat would relax and the water would dissipate. The result is I’d then come too soon enough. But by the same token, I also remember thinking, “Well, THIS is a stupid way to die!”
