In 1951 I delivered the Allentown PA Call Chronicle. Had to place each customer’s paper carefully on a porch or particular place. Failing to do so I didn’t get paid when collecting for papers delivered. Yes, we had to collect for the paper. We were our own quality control, & billing department. Never tossed a paper, & had to deal directly with over a hundred customers, each with their own expectations.

I’ve seen this running gag all my life. There is no way a newspaper can break a window unless something hard has been put inside of it.
