This is basically why some kids today don’t have any get up and git…their parents wrapped them up so much they’re delicate plants. Thank heaven (and I never thought I’d say this) I lived in a generation where you could fall off a bike, put a hole in your knee, stay awake all night suffering and the most the parent would say is “It’s all part of learning” (Oh and clean and bandage the knee.) I still remember that fall. But I did learn to ride a bike. One of the most freeing things I ever learned!
I agree KAYERINC. If you don’t let them try to fly on their own, sometimes getting hurt along the way, how are they ever going to grow up to be independent adults? Not to say they should always be left to their own devices, but just keep your eyes and ears open for possible trouble you can guide them away from.
With CTE being a real risk with football, I would encourage him to try another sport. Maybe basketball (still a risk but not nearly as much), or tennis, or golf. Anything but football. At least until they can improve the headgear to prevent injury. Luckily, my son naturally hates sports. He’s into art and computers. I can’t wait for him to start learning coding. That’s where the money is these days.
I got my second concussion a week ago during Irma. Doc says about two months to heal. Don’t go roaming around during a hurricane/power outage. Triped over something and banged my head onto the wood floor.

Maybe you should get Sammy his own personal “force field” like the one on the Enterprise on Star Trek.
