This idea wrecks all of Sprocket’s dreams of retiring to a rural property in a far-off state. She doesn’t look too happy about the whole idea.

Thought two: Comments last week about the true relationship between Silver and Sprocket. For what it’s worth, there were several examples in the Old Testament of Abraham and his sons telling people in the land that their wives were their sisters. This was to avoid the people of the land killing Abraham and his sons. However, I am stuck as to a reason why Silver and Sprocket would be doing this play.

Thought one (possibly disappeared): I agreed with others that Silver is dashing Sprockets dreams. I also would like to point out that Silver apparently slapped Sprocket in a scene in the Flat Mobile. That scene of abuse led me to thought two.

Note that the house she’s looking at in Arkansas comes with a shop building. Sprocket is a mechanic who could put that to good use. When Silver told Stiletta (about the Wonder Car), “We rebuilt her,” Sprocket had to point out that it was she who rebuilt the car. Silver is just not mechanical. He hasn’t even learned how to drive. Sprocket also designed some new add-ons for the car. She is actually quite talented. Silver doesn’t give her much credit, but he wouldn’t do too well without her. When he asks, “You in?,” he’d better hope for a yes, but it sure doesn’t look like he’ll get it.

Apparently Sprocket wants them to live in the country and raise hyenas.

Sprocket felt like a sad sack

Silver was acting like such a Stooge

She wished she knew a Nutty professor

To help her make Silver scared stiff

All she ever wanted was for them to be pardners

But she knew she was his errand boy

This might turn into the day the clown cried

If their breakup becomes another Martin and Lewis.

This brother-sister relationship seem a little weird to anybody else beside me?

Yeah, White, it’s not too far-fetched to vision them settling down, raising a family, and give the Cleaver family some friendly competition. The groundwork is already laid.

If Sprocket really wanted to just settle down in an out-of-the way rural community she should have just stayed in prison.

Silver’s got the bug! He can’t shake the con game. It’s his life, for better or for worse (mostly the latter, because he’s really not all that good at it without Sprocket). Sprocket is ready to settle down and (probably) go straight, or at any rate “hippie-straight.” She’s looking at “retirement” homes in Montana and in Arkansas, far away from Tracyville or any other big city.

There is a potential rift here between manic con man-brother and hippie-ish loving sister.

When cracks begin to appear in gangster schemes, they tend to magnify and lead to explosions that were not part of the plan….
