I don’t think any GOOD ideas should be buried. Unilateral single party ideas are always wrong when the Constitution expects reconciliation and compromise to achieve the best possible inclusive legislation.
You are right. The Democrats passed the ACA alone and the Republicans want to do the same for their bill The only way for a good bill is to work together.
RETPOST, the Republicans were invited to work on ACA and there Republican ideas that were included. For example, Grassley put in the amendment to have Congress and their staff members get their insurance through the exchanges rather than the usual Federal employee health program. Plus the individual mandate started with the right-wing Heritage Foundation version that was their answer to “HillaryCare”.
