If it’s important, they’ll ring back.

When caller ID first came out it worked pretty well. But now I get calls from “Unavailable”, “Unknown Caller”, “Out Of Area”, Entire cities and states like “Las Vegas NV” or “California”. It gets really weird when caller ID says that it is me calling.

Within the last year, I switched to a phone system with caller ID. Caller ID is useful to screen all the bogus calls. Call blocking is a bonus, useful and enjoyable when the bogus calls are blocked.

I used to have one of those phones and I would jack it into the outside box whenever I was having trouble. Made it easy to cutoff the “It must be your equipment” line

And… you’re really a Plugger if you remember how expensive Long Distance was. We had to time our calls to the East Coast with an egg timer. 3 minutes, no more!

We’ve stopped answering at all; our answering machine is our savior: we’ll pick up if someone we know starts to leave a message. All the people we want to talk to know/do that.

You’re a Plugger if you have a land line phone. None of your kids do!

British Telecom has a system which asks the callers to identify themselves…. when you pick up the phone the message says, “You have a call from (person speaks their name) – press 1 to speak.” Call centres hang up when asked that question.
