Lack of innovation stifles innovation. And cutting corners when profit is the sole motive stifles innovation. Even under regulations, an honest, well run company can be innovative and successful. Regulations are not about puritanical efforts to keep business down. They’re not there to stop ideas. They’re about discouraging cheaters and gaming the system.
Roy has to put it in terms Rita would understand, like getting rid of net neutrality killing their company’s ability to overtake Google. (We know Rita dreams big…)
This all started years ago when ISPs had the progressive idea that if some user (either end) was going to demand a lot of bandwidth, then they’re going to have to pay more or have their data-speed curtailed, so that others can get some. The hogs demanded to be treated ‘fairly’. The government got involved because they always like the employment of regulating more and more.— We are not necessarily better off for it.

My son’s summer internship company just had a lecture for the interns on why net neutrality is bad. It boiled down to, “We want more money.”
