Nothingburger, a term for a bunch of hype that ultimately leads to nothing, is probably one of the dumbest terms ever accepted into our modern political discourse. Though, considering what modern political discourse has become, maybe it’s perfect. I don’t know. I just think a bunch of well-educated journalists and pundits, whose only real job is to use words to bring weight to meaning, would come up with something better than a meme.
Well, King Richard the Nix WAS a great inspiration to Donnie Dumpsterfire! He’s given Donnie a goal to shoot for, to be even MORE corrupt then Nixon! And, by golly, he’s getting there quickly!
I suppose “nothingburger” is easier for the dumbed-down public to understand than “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” (Greatly lamenting the loss of great Shakespearean quotes in modern discourse.)

Nixon was not all bad, he did bring the men and women back from Vietnam. That was an accomplishment worth something.
