Yeah what doesn’t make sense to me and you can hear it in the audio, why was the police officer afraid the man was going to shoot him? If my intent is to kill you, why would I inform you first that I actually have a gun in the car. If my intent is to get my weapon and kill you and going to grab my weapon and then shoot as fast as I can. That just never made sense to me. Now hindsight and all that, now if he had just said he had the gun and kept his hands where the police could see them, it’s a different story, but if he were white it wouldn’t have went down like that. There a video on youtube where a college did an experiment and had white and black people walking down the street with legal assault rifles and of course the police reaction was quite different. If that’s not sobering I don’t know what is.
Several unrelated stories that make me ask a common question.
There is the Philando Castile story. The story of a cop who shot a fellow off duty officer because he was frightened for his life. The story of the cop in Orlando FL who fired 9 shots wounding the perpetrator (a white guy in this case) and a fellow officer as well as killing a woman sitting in a nearby bar.
The common question I have is: “What the hell are these twits being taught?” Draw weapon, shoot immediately and only then decide if there was any threat? It certainly isn’t the kind of gun handling my father taught me.
It sounds the same as a mad man shooting at a congressman. And the same as a child shooting his sibling. It sounds like someone shooting up their work place and it sounds like someone is making a whole lot of money off of it.
After each tragic mass shooting, calls for tighter gun control spike – while responses from the NRA are minimal or non-existent. When they do speak out it is to blame the administrations “political correctness” for failing to prevent this kind of violence. The NRA feels gun violence is politicized to promote gun control policies. They are “sick and tired” of being blamed for such shootings. They feel that shooting’s emotional tolls are being exploited to influence tighter gun control policies. They blame the victims of the violence done to them by guns. Or “there weren’t enough good guys with guns” to prevent shootings, suggesting we need more people armed. “The only thing that stops a bad cop with a gun is a good cop with a gun”?
“The NRA joins the entire country in expressing our deepest condolences to the families of [insert school name here] and to all who have been affected by this horrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones to this senseless act.” It is certainly too soon to discuss gun laws, but for now you get thoughts and prayers and more guns.

Philando obeyed the laws by informing the police that he was carrying a concealed weapon.

At times I wonder if the court made a mistake on the issue of hiring smart people as policemen …

Then there is the cop in St. Louis who shot ANOTHER COP because he was Black! His excuse was that he thought he was in fear for his safety!

The real NRA response was: “Here’s a chance to sell another weapon”!
