It’s a negotiating ploy. The Senate added in some wiggle room, they will pretend to concede on some points, and the final result will be pretty much what the House originally came up with. Then we’re supposed to be grateful that the Republican congress is so reasonable. They really do think the populace of this country are imbeciles.
It should be obvious that those who receive the most benefits from the plan are those which Congress favors most. The Senate is just being honest by showing where their sympathies lie and their feeling that they know best how healthcare should be doled out.
Democrats had their responses written by staffers before the bill was even released. Protesters had their plans set and were ready to go as soon as the bill was released. Business as usual.
BTW, I have a family member facing some potentially devastating health problems. She has coverage under Indiana’s HIP 2.0, Mike Pence’s version of the ACA Medicaid expansion. I pray she doesn’t experience the worst, but am thankful the coverage exists. In the future, HIP 2.0 will go away under the Republican plan. Thank goodness HIP 2.0 is there now. It is a reasonable program. Hard top believe our Veep is presiding over its demise.
So if you are a Republican small business owner your “win” on this is to see billions go from the pockets of lower and middle class people who will be too broke to buy your goods or services, into the pockets of billionaires. Guess what the 1% will spend their tax cut windfall on… It won’t be your business, it’ll be on buying more congress people to allow them to expand their corporations and put you out of business.
The Working bill after weeks of mitch scribbling in a dark closet? It is more heartless than the house bill, it is cruel. It is horrible to the poor and sick. It is ghastly to the rich who wanted more money out of it. It is a wolf, I don’ think it bothered with the sheep’s clothing, because they aren’t planning on needing 60 – votes.
“Shouldn’t you see it first”? What a load of crap! Mitch not only refused any Democrat input, he refused to show it to him. This thing is a mess. When they kick millions off of medicare they are going to devastate small, rural hospitals which RELY on that money to stay open. They call Obamacare a failure. This new bill will be MURDER.
I find it chilling that the Republican Senators that are against it ( with one exception) are upset that it isn’t more draconian. I wish Jesus would visit those jerks and throw over their money-changing tables as he once did at the Temple.
Once the bill is exposed to the light of day and public scrutiny it will die and wither away, much to the relief of most Republicans who really do not want to take ownership of an expensive, complicated, and controversial program.

13 WHITE senators in a room coming up with nothing more than a HUGE tax cut for the rich. How do average Americans keep reelecting these guys?

It’s a terrible health care bill; doesn’t give us billionaires nearly enough tax breaks.

Doesn’t even punish the poor people as much as it could.
