Lio said “Let there be a light, and there was a light.” Also, I’ve often thought that this strip is like a “Calvin and Hobbes” flavored melding of elements of “The Addams Family” with elements of “Peanuts.” Here’s a bit of an Uncle Fester moment.
In the beginning, there was nothing, and all was in darkness. He said “Let there be light!” and behold, there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a heck of a lot better…..
All I can picture is Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. I see Lio as one who frequently risks the dangers of returning to its depths in hope of rescuing others. There’s no better plan to improve the odds than taking one’s own light and speaking the language of the shadowmakers.
