If I recall, drone ants are brothers. I wonder what THAT’S like.

If you have kids of any gender, you’ve heard all of those lines many times over.

What Jan wrote about is not limited to female siblings…that is true of ANY siblings, or cousins of the same age, no matter what gender. The strip would be better featuring Max and Alix or Max and Luci if she could talk. But Holly was talking what she learned about ants in her biology class so Jan claimed that to be true for only human sisters to stay on the topic of the worker ants being sisters. And I am going to google that up to see if that is even true.

I don’t know where Jan got the info but Google source cited that worker ants are all females, not sisters. The likelihood of them being sister is possible considering they are in the same colony as the queen who mates with several males, making them more likely sisters and half sisters and a whole bunch of cousins, but to cite that as to be an absolute fact is difficult as it is just a theory based on deductions and observations. Only absolute is the worker ants are females.

Sorry not my family. My sister tried to get out lot of work. Once married she had to do her own housework. For ants they just carry each burdens.

I would think that worker ants have no gender. Queens are female and drones are male.
