I have my Grandfather’s auger and a few bits. I probably won’t ever use them but nice to have as a keepsake. I remember when I was about 11-ish I was making something and needed some holes drilled in a length of wood. I went over to his house and he did them for me. Nice memory.

I bored a 12" deep hole with a 1 1/2" ships auger and brace about a month ago. My right arm still aches.

I tried to use one once, after watching my grandfather drill a hole. I wasn’t heavy enough or strong enough to even make a dent in the plank.
