When I was growing up, news programs were only a half-hour long. With weather and sports, that meant the program had about ten minutes to focus on news, which meant the emphasis was on major issues. Now, in this time of “24/7 news”, the need to fill broadcasting time has resulted in the significant being pushed aside in favor of more and more triviality. Today’s strip is an illustration of this.

Gary T., get rid of Roland. The character’s too much of a hack to be funny, and now you’re just dragging out a joke that made it’s point by Wednesday of last week.

Sorry, GT, but I have to agree with Al on this one.

The prolonged death agony of celebrity journalism is worth a week or so of looking at what it’s become. Maybe Trudeau can have Roland eat bugs for spring sweeps.

Oh, I don’t really have a problem with this thread, since Roland Hedley has been a twit for years in this strip.

I guess it’s just that so many of my clients are twits in real life, that it bothers me to see them in the comics too… and so true to life, at that.

Cool, Roland. Let’s not make this report TOO self-centered and forget the purpose of wearing a PRESS card.
