Reminds me, too, of a team I played on as a high schooler. It was an adult league, which kids can’t do anymore. Our sponsor was a tavern, which minors also can’t do anymore. There were about 5 of us that just wanted to play softball, and someone told us where the team practiced. We introduced ourselves to the coach and told him we wanted to play. He didn’t care. After the game we would all go to the bar. Of course, we couldn’t go in, so someone would bring us sodas outside (yay). As we were young and better than some of the women on the team, they quit. They thought it was just a screw around drinking team, and we wanted to win!
The guy that coached us stayed with us all through high school and a few years after. There was one team that was “rigged” as well. And I will admit, they were good; always took first place. We could never beat them. It always got down to us and them. Eventually did have a team that took first place while we were playing for a pizza place when I got out of high school. That was good; we got free pizza after each game! However, the pizza place had a bar and I was still a minor (birthday in late summer). The law was 18 then and they didn’t know I wasn’t old enough until the season was just about over. Woo-hoo.
Can anyone remember when was the last time we had a new, current, non-rerun strip here? Hopefully I’m wrong, but we’ve had a looooong run of Cleats repeats.

Unless this is a multi-species league, pretty sure you can get the batter disqualified for not being human…
