I’m sure that America’s national security and its democracy can be sacrificed by the GOP if it interferes with corporate wealth. Heck the Russians are more than happy to help dismantle democracy at both Trump’s public and under-the-table requests. Especially since the GOP has a cover up for every contingency, even the most treasonous from the tippy top Senate and White House, with Breitbart and Faux News cheerleading.
Little Rexie T has already said he accepted the job only because his wife told him to take it. Every day in every way we are being shown that being a business person (successful or not) does not necessarily mean you have ANY of the qualifications required for a life in politics, let alone diplomacy! (As a New Mexican, I speak from experience – we’ve had 2 successful businessmen elected as governors and they BOTH had to spend the first part of their first term UNLEARNING things before they became even marginally successful governors!)
The State Department is just another wing of the Trump administration, they don’t like our traditional allies and want to help Putin. They don’t like American citizens and they love off-shore bank accounts. If you remember this, their actions will be understandable.
