Sometimes a knife or even scissors won’t work, unless they are very strong like sewing shears or something. I have cut myself on the PLASTIC trying to open things, let alone the instrument I’m using! One of my friends recommends a chainsaw…sounds good to me! (Like I could use one, ha! It would probably come in a box I couldn’t open, either!)
Hadn’t thought about it in a while, this reminded me! “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd” (1987) on one episode she was trying to open a new CD. This was when they were in those hard plastic holders. Hilarious!
There is a tool that used to be on the market, and maybe still is, called “OPEN X”. It has a small retractable blade with which to make a hole in the plastic, and then a thing like a letter opener to work around the rest of the package. Bought one about 10 or so years ago and use it every now and then when I have bought something in one of those awful plastic packages.
They’re called “blister packs” for several reasons; (1) the ‘blister’ you get from tearing/rending/ripping at the dam thing and (2) the ‘blistering language’ used in the process, (3) the ‘blisterine’ or peroxide needed to clean up the bleeding, plus many more irritants about said subject..

The other day I lent my tiny knife to someone trying to get the cellophane off a CD.

If the people who designed packaging also designed prisons the world would be a safer place.

I was told a can opener worked to open them. Ha! NOT!

knives and razor blades are too easy to slip and cut yourself. I use scissors now. Much better.
