The Democratic leadership would rather lose to Republicans than anger their corporate donors by allowing progressives to win. Regardless of what The Democratic Establishment would have you thing, they cannot with the presidency without their progressive base. The only hope the Dems have is to stop taking corporate cash and go back to courting progressives. Hillary showed that you can still loose regardless of how much corporate cash you have while Bernie showed you can hold your own with out it.

That’s right… Making the same mistake, again… Insanity, any one? Forget about taking the Hill back in 2018! Spineless Dems make me sick almost as much as the GOParasites!

Most of the time choosing the DNC Chair is difficult because NOBODY wants the job. Why? Because there is no there there; its symbolic with no power. Winning means nothing, losing means nothing.

Where would you concentrate your effort to gain influence from voters if you were the DNC?

    " …

Among members of the Silent Generation, which includes voters who are today between the ages of 71 and 88, the Republican Party has opened a wide advantage in leaned party affiliation over the past several years. By 53% to 40% more members of the Silent Generation identify as or lean Republican than Democratic. This is the largest advantage for the GOP among Silent Generation voters in Pew Research surveys dating to 1992.

Millennials now match Baby Boomers as the generation that represents the largest number of eligible voters in the country. While Millennials are a large and diverse cohort, there continues to be no sign of differences in partisanship among younger and older member of the generation. Similar shares of Millennials ages 18-25 (58%) and 26-35 (56%) identify as Democrats or lean towards the Democratic Party.

    …"

I think there needs to be a major overhaul of the entire system. Corporate $$$ needs to get the hell out of the electoral system and we need to vote for individuals who stand for the American people, not those who have been bought by corporations (and that includes both Ms Clinton and trump).

Tom Perez does not hold office at this time, so by electing him, the Democrats don’t lose an legislatively experienced Representative for what is basically an administrative job. In addition, he is not any more establishment than Keith Ellison. Both are in their mid-fifties, both are liberal, both can be counted on to be advocates for consumers and labor, and both will be working together to strengthen the liberal/progressive agenda at the state level. It will be up to us progressives to get in there and help them.BTW, I am a Silent. We’re not all dingbat Righties…

Maybe some Democrat can go renegade and advocate prosecution of businesses that hire illegals.

Maybe even (gasp) call for a crackdown on HB-1 visas.

    .

    Not bloody likely, of course.

I find it interesting that “republicans” are appearing to abandon their core beliefs and are, instead, jumping on the ‘Trump train’ to the universe of alternative “facts!” Perez immediately appointed Ellison, a Sanders progressive as his vice chair – together they cover the spectrum of democrats AND most independents – leaving only the far right uncovered. The bigots, misogynists, racists and other mentally impaired such as white nationalists are left (pardon the pun) to the Trumpist party. But liberals, millennials, and the like are now covered by the heads of the DNC, thank you very much.

The contest was somewhat a battle between the Bernie progressives & the establishment progressives. The actual candidates, Ellison & Perez are both solid progressives.

The main job of the DNC chair is to collect money from donors. The decisions on which candidates get money is made elsewhere… I guess Clay needed a break from Trump.

Perez spit mud on the Bernie Liberal Millennials by appointing Ellison as his vice chair? More like a few stood behind the car and complained. I watched Perez on the Sunday morning circuit and he is saying things that the Bernie Liberal Millennials can agree with, that just doesn’t sell news.

Wondering if Jones was trying to provoke some of his readers? ( A team of Perez and Ellison should be capable to recover in the 2018 election. )
