Oliphant retired. Glad to see him back. Henry, why do you ignore the obvious signs of fascism in Trump’s supporters? The shots of Iannopolis (sp?) show him Heiling as he comes on stage. In Germany, he would not be allowed to legally do that, and Trump made a Holocaust speech WITHOUT mentioning Jews!Go hibernate in your Mom’s basement! Oh, that’s right, you’re still there! That said, the riot in Berkeley was stupid and non-productive, separate from the protests, which are totally in America’s wheelhouse.
No surprise to see Oliphant back. I thought he would have a hard time resisting the temptation. After all, in just 2 weeks, Trump and Co. have set new records for constitution shredding, international trashing, insulting allied heads of state, and humanitarian crises by a US administration.
Glad to see Oliphant back, as I always loved his work. I imagine he was hoping for a quiet retirement, but could no longer resist jumping back into the conflict to fight the new Führer.
THE best political cartoonist of the 20th century (Herblock is only a distant second). I’ve been wondering if it was ill-health these last couple years, maybe problems with his eyesight or something. Of course, anybody with the great accomplishments that Oliphant has had deserves a quiet retirement if he chooses, but he was sorely missed. And once again yet again, for people who simply don’t know their facts from their (alternative) fundaments: A HUGE AMOUNT OF THE CRITICISM OF TRUMP HAS COME, AND CONTINUES TO COME, FROM CONSERVATIVES!
Pat knows fascism when he smells it.“It’s official: The military convoy seen flying a Trump flag in Louisville on Sunday belonged to a Navy Special Warfare unit, and the flag was “unauthorized,” a Navy spokeswoman said." —USAToday http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/02/02/military-convoy-flew-trump-flag-convoy/97388366/
Oliphant is a great cartoonist. I’m not sure that Trump is a Nazi, I suspect he’s just an authoritarian narcissist. But Bannon, he’s a Nazi, and it’s possible he’s really in control.
I love the idea that the “conservatives” backing a racist fascist advised by an open white supremacist (who used Nazi references — “America First” — in the INAUGURAL ADDRESS) are so, so offended by being called Nazis.
Cry me a river, Nazis. And remember, Captain America is coming after you.
We already know Trump isn’t like Hitler. They both fit Dark Tetrad personality types, but Hitler had more brains…and that actually is why Bannon worries us more than Trump.
To MDavis4183: Drumpf is fair game, a public figure. He’s been acting like a combination of Mussolini and Hitler for about 16 months. If you can’t see it, I can’t help you, as none are so blind as he who will not see.
The term drew considerable media attention and controversy during the 2016 presidential election, particularly after Trump appointed Breitbart News chair Steve Bannon, who has called Breitbart “the platform for the alt-right,” CEO of the Trump campaign in August.2526 Media attention grew further after the election, particularly when Spencer exclaimed “Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory” at a post-election celebratory conference near the White House. In response, a number of Spencer’s supporters gave the Nazi salute and chanted in a similar fashion to the Sieg Heil chant used at the Nuremberg rallies. Spencer, who used several Nazi propaganda terms during the meeting, defended the conduct, stating that the Nazi salute was given in a spirit of “irony and exuberance”
Pat, I saw this today, ironically only an hour after asking Bill to please CALL YOU. We love you and miss you far too much. Have you ever drawn anything that wasn’t sublime? And I have a notebook full of your sublimes.
And we now have pictures of a military unit flying a Trump flag, and Kellyanneourway citing a nonexistent massacre.News is not truth, truth is not news.
@Mdavis: you do not understand how libel works. In the United States, public figures are unable to sue for libel except under very, very narrow circumstances, because they ARE public figures. And this is covered under the First Amendment, which you should take a look at sometime.
Oh no! Calling people out for their continued misbehavior isn’t novel enough for some discerning readers!
How about we stop showing racist authoritarian bullies as Nazis when they stop scapegoating religions, appealing to power, and urging military might be used to restore an imaginary golden age when the inferior races knew their place? Does that sound like a fair deal?

Oh, and Oliphant hasn’t lost a bit of his savvy. Note the length of Hair Twitler’s tie.
For the record, there’s a reason you don’t wear your tie that far below the belt buckle. It suggests you have feelings of inadequacy…or small hands…
