Donald Trump opens "Wall Mart," which will pay for border security one U.S. consumer at a time. Trump: There are campaign promises... and there are alternative campaign promises!
Yep, USA consumers are going to pay for the Wall. Either the tariff’s cost will be added onto the retail price or the economy will slow down because people will spend less on consumer goods.
If you buy Haas avocadoes at your grocery store, you will need to find another brand. They are from Mexico and will now cost 20% more. So will most US grown oranges, because growers still rely heavily on ‘guest laborers’ to pick them.
A trade war results in higher prices for everything, including domestically produced goods. Just a fact of economics, not that facts have any influence on Mr. Trump or the Repugs.
A negative side effect of protectionism that occurs when Country A raises tariffs on Country B’s imports in retaliation for Country B raising tarrifs on Country A’s imports. Trade wars may be instigated when one country perceives another country’s trading practices to be unfair or when domestic trade unions pressure politicians to make imported goods less attractive to consumers. Trade wars are also a result of a misunderstanding of the widespread benefits of free trade.
RETIRED ANALYST And, you think that the foreign-based manufacturer is just going to eat the cost? That added expense has to be added to the price paid by the American consumer, but you are correct in saying that the manufacturer will then pass it on to the U.S. government.
Thank goodness we have people who can provide a few checks and balances for President* Trump. A federal judge intervened with a stay of deportation for the folks detained last night, for example. Some of the folks detained were actually translators for our troops and have already sacrificed a great deal for our country only to be shafted when they tried to seek asylum from extremely dangerous conditions in their own country. Meanwhile, we also have trump insisting on making the American consumers pay for his ridiculous wall. Trump is also determined to see to it that several million will again be without health insurance. Only a week and so far complete chaos on so many fronts.
ROFL! Tariffs aren’t paid by the consumer, pigs fly, and unicorn races will be held on the White House lawn when Trump pulls out Michelle’s garden, replacing it with a race track.
The parents buying school clothes at Target and Walmart and everyone else that works with their budgets will be paying for the additional 20% tacked on to imported goods. Not the billionaires that are going to gut and filet this country.
Are you ( Those that voted for “The Orange Monster” ) scared yet ?? If you aren’t just give it a little more time, and then run the hell away from him !!!

It doesn’t matter what Trump does or who it hurts, the Republicans are going to call it a win and move on.
