If he sees his shadow it’s six more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t it will be spring in six weeks

He’s also popping up in the sibling comics of Dogs of C-Kennel and The Wizard of Id.

Well, there is a store that should do good business. As most of the other stores have pulled winter items from the shelf and started stocking garnering items by the middle of January. By the middle of February (even though there is still 2 months of snow yet to come) you couldn’t find a snow shovel to save your life.

So it’s his belief that he’s seen his shadow that’s important, not the actual fact. I’m glad to clarify that, as I like to get my superstitions right.

I read somewhere that the groundhog formula is right 31% of the time. Or wrong, 69% of the time. If they’d just flip that around, he’d be right more often than wrong. Just say they’re adjusting it due to climate change. They don’t have to admit it’s been wrong

This legend always baffled me. If he sees his shadow, then the sun is shining. You’d think that would mean shorter winter!
