I don’t remember exactly where David stopped with the links to the Leonard Starr version of Annie but there is a guy who is posting daily “Annie” strips from the Mark Pease story from 1981. His name is James Gauthier and you can find him on FB and it is not a private page. James was a personal friend of Leonard Starr and he provided proof sheets to the Classic Comics Press for their complete reprint of “On Stage!” (22 books). On his page he not only is posting the Annie stories but also “On Stage!”, “Dark Shadows”, “Winnie Winkle”, and “Smitty”. He also posts a lot of background material and original art. For example, in the recent 1958 story about “Brutus Ransome”, he provides photos of Starr having a young model in poses for Ransome’s son, Jed. The model is none other than Larry Hagman! Interesting stuff and the On Stage! and Annie strips are crystal clear.

Uh, which James Gauthier? (There’s about half a dozen of them on FB.)
