Man: A few words about crying. Fact: Crying is news. No matter what the story, if your subject cries, you've got your lead! Some of this year's brightest reporting was in the area of crying! For example, who will ever forget Woodstein's exclusive account of Richard Nixon sobbing on the oval office carpet? Kudos, too, for the courtroom close-ups of Claudine Longet; the Walters "Did you cry" interview with President Ford; and Ephron's superb coverage of Gloria Steinem breaking down in Miami! But how do these stories stack up to Muskie's "Melting Snowflakes"?... Woman: Unfair! Unfair! That was a classic!
