Republicans disdain ethics, watchdogs, political correctness or anything that would bring more transparency to what they are doing. The party does not compromise or follow the rules of decorum, their president is not a candidate of scripted speeches and policy papers and campaign staff. They are trying to dismantle the entire government, why would any of them be concerned with ethics, fairness or the American people?
I actually understood the concern they had and why they were motivated to change this system. It could have been handled much better though.
I certainly agree with doing away with anonymous accusers. A person should be able to face their accusers rather than be told “you don’t need to know”
I also agree the process should be sealed until the investigation is complete. Too many politicians found themselves facing angry constiuents when nothing was ever proven. So the process itself was the penalty and that has been abused regularly.
There is probably room for improvement here and instead they tried to eliminate it entirely – That was very poor optics on their part.

Considering the Ethics Committee is (a) run by the GOP, this is a hollow victory at best and (b) has no teeth anyway, this is a hollow victory.

seems like the DNC had a bit of a problem with ethics during the primary, turned a lot of voters off.

I hope those Ethic Watchdogs have the list of who voted For Closing them down. It should make a nice investigative list.
