Nasty backstabbing boss died last year and everyone was going on about what a saint he was. I would mention how he had screwed them over. Their reactions were interesting as they remembered.

A co-worker went to a funeral for a Christian friend and came back to the office to say, “The minister never talked about Joe; he only talked about Jesus”.

The boss replied, “You know, I’ve been to funerals where the rabbi went on about what a saint the deceased had been. Maybe he was talking about Jesus, too. It certainly couldn’t have been the person in the coffin!”

Went to a funeral for the father of a man that I worked for. The preacher the family had hired for the event obviously did not know the man and after talking to the family seemed to come up with the observation of the deceased’s character as “He did not kill anyone………..that we know of”. Not in those exact words but that was the sentiment. By the way the acorn didn’t fall far from the tree (and I this was my shortest employments and never listed i work history).
