Iron maiden was created in the 19th century as a tourist attraction. It would have made a bad torture device. That is what I read in the History of Torture, anyway.

Isn’t “has to double as a rec room” a bit redundant? Isn’t a dungeon, when all is said and done, a rec room for sadists?
