Congratulations, Bern – It took you just two panels and about 5 seconds to take the normally pleasant Dez into a mad – looking crazy person. And, her eyes are crossed.

@MORDOCK999: Gunther and Tiff are taking a pleasant ride out in the country. Suddenly, Tiff looks out into a dirt field and recognizes Bernice sitting out in the middle of the field in a rowboat. She gets Gunther to pull over to the side of the road and back up to get a better view. Tiff tells Gunther, "Bern looks pretty stupid sitting out in the middle of a dirt field in a rowboat, do you think we ought to get out of the car and go tell her? And Gunther, the other brainy one, replies, “Better not. Besides, how would we get out there, we don’t even have a boat…”

@BIGBOXES: I like Bernice, too. If I was about 35 years younger and single, I’d invite her over for a silent film. Then, about half of the way through the movie, just as she is about to drop into a peaceful sleep, I’d see if she might enjoy a little mood music. A nice 2,000 watt per channel dubstep drop might do it.

When the police arrive, besides reporting the stolen TV, they should also report that Dez’s right sleeve went missing suddenly.

Wouldn’t it be too funny if she goes to report the stolen TV to director Lopez and the director says:" Oh, I forgot to tell you, the TV set was taken to the repair shop last week. Does anyone repair TV’s anymore? Do they just get thrown out when they break down? The college would have hopefully have the money to replace it. Or maybe it would become a project for the students in AV tech to repair. Who knows.

Dez is getting so rattled by nutso Bern these last several days that her sleeves have been schizophrenically (is that a word?) changing color.

I’m with Dez, I’m tired of Bernice stalling. She needs to just say, “The TV was stolen out of the common room before I got in there,” and yes, she needs to tell them about Piro’s scarf because it was left behind. Maybe he stole it, maybe he didn’t, but it’s better to be honest and tell everything when first asked.

@ Krisbennett723: We don’t know for sure it’s Piro’s scarf. We didn’t see him leave it. Bernice and Dez did not see him leave it. On at least one occasion he has said that he has borrowed scarves from hair.

The mantra “Owa Tagu Siam” fits here.I figured the set was probably in the shop for repairs. YES, there are still repair shops around. In fact, a couple of years ago, I used one! 50 bucks, 1 day. No problems.

I repeat. “Bernice will suffer a nervous breakdown before she graduates.” Then we will have to go through the insufferable arcs of the other characters dealing with mental illness of a friend. Or will she move on from lavender to other “meds.”

That’s the “Bernice effect.” except for her brother, Gunther, who is just like her, everybody else falls out of sync thanks to her. I’m sure director Lopez has the answer to the “T.V. mistery” it is either going to be replaced, or it is being repaired. I’m surprised to see how she’s getting Dez all out of sync as well.

Oh good! We’ll get to spend a week now, watching these two idiots hassle over what to do about the missing TV. Have they considered perhaps it’s out for repair? Go report it to someone with a brain and let’s move on……

@LEE DAWSON .. well, we know a few past members who would comment have been hanging back from the site since the switch-over, for a number of reasons. Hopefully they will return shortly. But yes, even counting the “Replies”, the total number is way down. Perhaps with a different subject matter / story arc it will rebound more. But in part the new site seems less friendly toward rambling conversations as the old one was.

Hi, everyone. I’m not really a regular reader of Luann, but I know that people have been missing a tally of the total number of comments on the page. It took me hours to find a system that works reliably, but I think it’s working now. I have added a feature to my “expand all replies” bookmarklet widget to give the total number of comments, including replies. You’ll find it at http://worldofdt.info/gchelp.html with some instructions (instructions still need improvement). If you try it and it doesn’t look right, wait a few seconds until all the replies load in and click it again.

Actually, when you click on the “replies” to comments, there are more than 100 comments here. Replies are not included in the comment count. They should be!

@LaughingKitty: I agree with you that the replies should be counted as comments, and posted that some time ago. But I don’t think GoComics folks care all that much. So, in order to make sure that my comment counts (even if it’s a reply to a previous comment), I’m not going to use the ‘reply’ function anymore. I’ll use the comment function, and, if it is a reply, I’ll show who I’m replying to. By the way, I like your avatar.
