27 cents a gallon?! Somebody get me a time machine!
I remember riding around with my parents as they “shopped” gas stations to find three tenths (yes tenths) of a cent lower prices during a gas price war. I seem to remember it was about 19 cents a gallon.
Since 3 X (20 min.) = 1 hour; 3 X 8.5 miles = only 25.5 mph.
But that is only an average, if they had to deal with red lights etc. the cop was probably correct.
Got my first car in’73. Rode into the gas station on fumes. Told him to fill it, handed him a $5 bill and got change back. Ah, the good old days.
Maths is a taboo word to me.
