    The Associated Press defines alt-reich.

    .

“Alt-right” (quotation marks, hyphen and lower case) may be used in quotes or modified as in the “self-described” or “so-called alt-right” in stories discussing what the movement says about itself.

    .

Avoid using the term generically and without definition, however, because it is not well known and the term may exist primarily as a public-relations device to make its supporters’ actual beliefs less clear and more acceptable to a broader audience. In the past we have called such beliefs racist, neo-Nazi or white supremacist.

@stipple, Old Crow NoboYou two are contradicting yourselves, you want exactly what the Nazis did during their time in power, so still do the socialists/communists, silence every dissenting voice, who knows they may even say the truth. Let every citizen exercise their right to inform themselves however they want, let them judge on their own what’s right or wrong. You really do not hold a moral or intellectual high ground. You can be deceived just as easily.

While the dumpster fed into the alt-right during the election, he did publicly deny them (at least for a while).

To me, his cabinet looks like the rise of the (very conservative) Plutocracy.

I’m sure that the president-elect remembers his promise to end the division and has had long conversations with these people…

    .

… Trump stated that it is “time for us to come together as one united people,” and that the time is now for “America to bind the wounds of division.”

Every day they dig deeper into the swamp scum for more potential appointees. Having fought for MY country, and my son has too, watching what Trump will do if the idiot right in Congress backs him, makes me physically ill, really. This just keeps getting worse..

The smoke coming out of the Trump transition team is their burning our Constittuion.. Prison or loss of citizenship for demonstrating by burning the flag to protest the destruction they’re bringing to our rights and nation? Fidel Trump, anyone?

No honest person (hell, no SANE person) uses the term “alt-right”, as if people were choosing from alternatives, say as between Coke and Pepsi. It is the radical right, the far-right, the extremist right, the Klan right, the Nazi right, the evil right, and the terrorist right. It is a disease which needs the antibodies of truth to counter it.

These are still the “colorful racists” with the flags, guns and marches, it is the ones who wear business suits and pass laws that are the dangerous ones.

I used to work with someone I’ll call a “secret Nazi.” You’d be surprised how many of these are even in the middle and upper classes – they just know how to hide it fairly well.

@Mr BlawtJust in case you missed it the Nazis called themselves Socialists (left) who am I to argue with that. Using the same rhetoric they ate the other German socialists’ lunch.

I remember the last time they were a political force. Then, they called themselves the White Citizens Council, and hid behind suits and “respectability” instead of sheets and night and passed laws in small towns instead of lynch ropes and burning crosses. Deep, and sometimes not so deep, inside, they were both the same. I have had my battles with the AP Manual of Style, but this time, they are totally accurate.

The party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany.6 The party was created as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.7 Initially, Nazi political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, although such aspects were later downplayed in order to gain the support of industrial entities, and in the 1930s the party’s focus shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.8".

    .Nationalist, racist, populist sound familiar.
