    Castro’s great achievements were to provide mega baseball talent to the major leagues, and offer the best eye care in the world. After that it goes downhill rapidly.

    Fidel Castro was a cruel dictator. Any country that people are willing to, in fact HAVE TO, risk their lives to leave is a terrible place run by a despotic regime. That said, the criticism leveled by some in the Cuban ex-pat community toward Pres. Obama because, they say, his opening of relations with Cuba “does nothing to restore democracy to Cuba” is laughable. You cannot restore what was never there to begin with.
