Please tell me how a 4% increase in the maximum tax rate for the wealthy will cut them in half?? Forbes magazine has a set of articles on how those folks with personal wealth at only $6 billion instead of $6.2 BILLION are suffering immensely. Then of course there are those whose wealth has continued to increase, but we won’t talk about that.

^ Yep, that must be it. Anyone of a different opinion is envious.

^^ Look at your example. That’s $200 MILLION that’s not being not spent to spur the economic engine. If you were morbidly obese, do you think it’d be right for you to not have one extra lamb chop on your dinner place? You’re such a cruel person. Stop advocating starvation, I beseech you.

Lamb chops, yum! I’m envious. All I can afford is this bleeep dachshund, sliced into balogna. Actually ODon, I had rich people sign my paychecks most of my working life. Then, due to medical problems, I got too fat and lazy to earn a living, so now I work for the government. Nice union job. Only pays enough for balogna, but at least I’m not sucking social security.

Everyone knows that if you took all the economists in the world and laid them end to end, they couldn’t reach a conclusion.

^ The question is not if any system works for “all members”. No system does. The question is what system works for more than other systems. That has an easy answer, proven over and over- free market capitalism.

Yes, there will always be some left behind but you don’t design a system to benefit 15% at the harm of 85%. You are seeing the results around the world right now.

“You are seeing the results around the world right now. ”

    Apparently Ramirez isn’t.

“So far, I’ve never had one of my paychecks signed by a poor person. ”

Signed, no. Yet I’d say if it weren’t for the army of non-rich consuming - however much they can - you wouldn’t be getting your paycheck anyway.

Look at the economies of Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain, Iceland, Ireland etc. Tax the rich and cradle to grave benefits for everyone else. It doesn’t work. Bankruptcy.

Libertarian, if I remember correctly, a large problem for Greece was that almost everyone was evading paying taxes. Especially the rich guys. And as for benefits, they can’t hold a candle to Germany, France, Netherlands, or the whole freaking Scandinavia. How come THEY aren’t having all those problems?

The “Chicago School” of economics was/is disaster. Alan Greenspan really WAS a “best bud” of Ayn Rand.

As Fennec can relate, my brother never understood why I’d save folks lives, for rather poor pay, and was always trying to get me to join him in “private industry”— working on nothing but government contract work, for much higher pay.

He died with lots of toys, and kids that hated him because he cared more about money, than them.

I prefer occasionally going over the letters, especially from kids, thanking me for helping them, rather than having chased the “buck”.

And yes I DID have jobs in the private sector, including owning my own business, and making good money at it, but preferred the sense of self worth from serving my country, and other people who needed what I could offer.
