The “Chicago School” of economics was/is disaster. Alan Greenspan really WAS a “best bud” of Ayn Rand.
As Fennec can relate, my brother never understood why I’d save folks lives, for rather poor pay, and was always trying to get me to join him in “private industry”— working on nothing but government contract work, for much higher pay.
He died with lots of toys, and kids that hated him because he cared more about money, than them.
I prefer occasionally going over the letters, especially from kids, thanking me for helping them, rather than having chased the “buck”.
And yes I DID have jobs in the private sector, including owning my own business, and making good money at it, but preferred the sense of self worth from serving my country, and other people who needed what I could offer.
