@ErickC. You make an excellent point. In addition, the woman is being compared to a whale, so… there’s that. Before I offend half, or more of the readers of this forum, I am kidding on all counts. I am happily married to a lovely woman, who never once has it ever occurred to me to compare her to a whale.
There is just something tragically poetic about consigning oneself to one’s doom.

never mind, according to Scott, there was a happy ending. The whale wore white, Ahab was totally tied up to her, they sailed away into the sunset….
What could be more romantic than that????
