“Tilly” (upper right name in out box) is also the nickname (“Terrible Tilly” in full) of the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, off the northern coast of Oregon. Finished in 1881, it saw service till 1957, and has more recently been used as a columbarium.

Tillie (alt spelling) is not a common name, ranking 1,079 among “top female first names in the US” according to one web site.

Still using clock cards instead of magnetic strip cards? No wonder this business is downsizing its labour force, it’s out-of-date. (if downsizing labourforce is due to automation i.e.more efficiencies thru’ high-tech , then I’m sure they would have replaced the clockcard system, too). If it is off-shoring or out-sourcing, it’s the global Free market, eh, Lisa, it’s called a free market; something Republicans love, so why the long sigh, Lisa?

Layoffs are still not huge so this must be playing to myth that 100,000,000 people aren’t working, the retired, school kids, babies etc.

We have never had a hundred percent employment. Numbers a little less than three or four percent are the long term average. The biggest problem is unemployment in poverty areas. The government could have a big impact there by retraining people and encouraging business formation in those areas.

Looks like Bob is in pretty early. The numbers keep going up, the dismal labor force was 8 years ago. Now, with the awesome laser-like focus on jobs, the Legislature has seen jobs skyrocket. Of course, all of the jobs Obama helped add, are the wrong kind. So to recap, Republicans good, Democrats bad. Oh, and you don’t have time cards for people who don’t work there. So all this toon is doing is showing how many people there are who actually are working. Even though bob is incredibly early and seems to be resigned to it. Interesting toon the day after US job openings is at an all time high.

About six years ago Republicans ran, and mostly won, on the promise of jobs, Jobs, JOBS!

Did anyone ever find out what they meant by that?

Source: NPR. Unemployment is currently 4.9%. That is outstanding! There is no unemployment problem! Oh, then they follow that up with the fact that men aged 22-54 are employed at an 83% clip, compared to the 1960’s when that number hovered around 100%! Numbers, ya know…..

Obama’s successful, scandal-free presidency has ticked off Republicans so much they lost their minds and nominated Donald Trump for president. LOL

Are we all overlooking ‘Prima-Donnie the Job-Creator?’ Just consider how many lawyers he has hired to represent him in hundreds of lawsuits! And then there’s all the lawyers on the other side….

Unions have gotten a bad rap (and some deserved).. but “they” were in large part the cause of the good old days we all want to go back too.
