Has the writer checked out the rent or price of homes in those types of neighborhoods? Even saving money in the ways mentioned, and having a good job, most people wouldn’t be able to afford such a locale.
This also presumes that such things are convenient to wherever the housing is. If you get a bedroom community, or a place that suffered under poor urban planning, then you’re well out of luck.
