Well in a changing world, with equal rights women should be required to register for the selective service (they aren’t) and women sometimes, if they asked the guy out should pay for dinner too.
If two genders are to be truly equal there can’t really be old fashion, sort of sad to see chivalry go extinct but then again it really depends on the person. Some women like old fashion and like chivalry and don’t mind taking a back seat…being a stay at home mom, etc…but others the complete opposite.

Whoever does the inviting pays. But I often offer to spit the cost regardless of the gender.
