It’ll be interesting to see how the Apple situation works out. That and the exploding Samsung batteries actually are comparable. It is in the nature of lithium batteries to be subject to catching on fire. And it’s in the nature of global metastatic capitalism to corrupt countries to reduce their tax bill as much as possible.
The Apple situation is going on w some other non-European companies which had tax deals in EU member nations, too. Basically, it is similar to some states rights questions here. Those nations cut deals in order to bring in industries which created jobs, and Apple DID create many, many jobs in Ireland during those years when Ireland had a negotiated tax break w Apple, but now the EU has pretty much decided that nations’ negotiated tax breaks with companies do not carry over to EU expectations and obligations. There is also a trade war aspect to it. Notice the similarity in amount to the fine VW got for designing autos that gave false emissions testing results.

Those who oppose tax avoidance mean by others .For themselves, most take every legitimate deduction they can find — and then some.
