    Some Siamese cats must have that spell, as one whom I knew (a friend’s cat) would sit or lie down while staring fixedly and without blinking at one spot on a wall or a blanket, for hours at a time. Also:

    It could have been worse—the spell could have contained a “sub-routine” that would cause Phoebe to summon her inner unicorn, in which case Phoebe might have been obsessed with her reflection, whether in a shiny floor tile or in the girls’ bathroom mirror.
