I love cats and dogs and really all animals as much as the next guy, but—yes—the rescue people are a bit crazy. They mean well and do work that needs to be done, but—yes—crazy.

What on earth is “crazy” about them? To me they are angels and we need more of them.

If they’re crazy, then we need a lot more “crazies”.

The Man going out into a blizzard to see what the cats were looking at. That’s a healthy crazy. I also love how the reporters see his protective gear. His wool cap is a beacon. His scarf tethers him to reality!

Lupin out in the field, off the anchor desk, hence the Cat of Adventure hat. Tommy AND his woman, wearing matching goggles. Sweet, polite little kitten. Droll look on the the face of The Woman as she holds a squirming, fully armed Elvis. Dang I love this strip !

Details! The Man has hat hair! Love the kitten’s tiny little tail under his arm. And, of course, puffball Elvis at the very idea of another cat!

Susan Barrett and I two of those crazies you are all talking about. It’s not always easy and it’s never cheap. Case in point: last summer, when the temps were in the low to mid 100s she spent several days crawling around inside of a big houseboat that was abandoned on somebody’s property to rescue a momcat and her babies. We have no idea how long they had been without food or water but they were bad shape. Each time she found a kitten, she brought it to me. Around here, people move out of trailers and leave them full of trash, garbage and cats and kittens. As soon as she finds out about them, she’s in there looking for them. We envy places like Boulder CO. It’s such a huge animal friendly place. It’s just the opposite here. Finally, to give her the props she deserves, she was recently named Volunteer of the Year for the state of Utahs ’Animal Control Officers Association.

My dog freaks out every time i get a text. The tone, what ever it is, does something to her and she starts calling all over me trying to get reassurance from me. It doesn’t matter WHAT tone, ding, whistle, click or what ever i choose to use, she thinks that something is wrong.I can’t turn the tone off, i need to get the texts in because of work. Its’s at the point where i get angry at her because every time she wants to crawl all over me. I was just in bed trying to take a nap, a text came in, and she started crawling over my head. She did not display this behavior when i first brought her home, its something that has started happening in just the last year or less.Does anyone pave a similar problem, and/or a suggestion.Turning the alert tone off is NOT an option.

Interestingly, even in yesterday’s strip, the copy on the BCN webpage had the kitten’s name—which I’ll not mention until it comes up in the arc here. She’s special, she is.
