Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, a Republican who frequently criticizes Mr. Obama, said in an interview that federal officials had done “an excellent job” responding to the floods. “They actually do care,” he said.
Par for the course. A list of what he “donated” is not available. It is not clear that Trump paid for any or all of what was delivered, that too is unavailable. Local news stories indicated blankets, school supplies Play Dough, which is fine but you have to wonder if a “billionaire” could have afforded more than on truck load. It appears to me it was more of a photo op moment but the local governor would not let the reporters in to create more confusion so Donald did not get the bit photo op he probably intended.
Oh, Mr. Payne, did you miss the little plea from the governor of Louisiana who asked the president and the nominees to stay away, so the police could focus on the relief? Obama agreed, Trump went anyways against wishes… For a photo op- and just like before, claims he wants to donate, but nobody actually got a check.
Dear Mr. Payne:[]Barack Obama was specifically asked by the Governor of Louisiana NOT to come.[]With the news resources available to you as a nationally syndicated cartoonist, how can you not have been aware of that fact?
The REAL issue wasn’t anything to do with “W” doing a flyover (appropriate rather than taking away from rescue efforts) with Katrina, it was the total incompetence of the Bush “team” before, during, and after the event. They had warnings, as with 9/11/01, and screwed the pooch anyway. (Granted that 9/11 WAS a slightly more complex issue to sort the available data and assess risk, well other than the direct warning to the President in August briefing.)

So, you and Mr. Payne’s outrage is both stupid and factually incorrect.

Obama 125 vacation days. Bush 407 to Aug 25th. I’m sure the 6 boxes of Play Doh were more helpful than the $100,000,000 Obama sent!

Yeah, it’s far more acceptable to go the Bush route and just view the damage while flying over in a private jet.

Cartoons from the imagination are not an “illustration”, just another fraud from the dang closet.
