Around here, the first day of school is always the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend. Because Mondays are bad enough. Nice of the district to spread out the pain.

In my town, they started last Thursday. The kids had two days of school, then a 3 day weekend. This week is a short week, but then school will be in earnest!

Oregon has different start dates in various districts, depending on how many snow/flood days need to be made up.

back in the middle 40’s till 59 when i graduated we always started after labor day,and got out by the end of June Never close for school snow days sometime the buses would be an hour or so late-but us town kids still went and the country kids just came to a class when they got n
