One of my cats tries this trickall the time.

Cats are such awful liars. One hour after eating, they pretend they’re starving to death. And they definitely try to play family members against each other.

Fortunately, we have a system. We use different style bowls for their morning (wet) food and their evening (dry) food. So we can tell at a glance if they’ve yet to be fed or if they’ve finished everything already.

Or, ever-observant Arlo just missed seeing that note yesterday, and now Ludwig will leave him another little something….. in his shoe.
