I have long wondered what is the biological basis of someone suddenly itching in some random part of the body. I think of this every time I see some newscaster or politician suddenly scratch during a new broadcast.
(A recent Scientific American article on itching at least explained why scratching feels so good, but it still didn’t answer my question.)
