That happened to me once. Neighborhood sale; I had the complete set of Hardy Boy books, 50+, loaded in a plastic bin and priced at $35. I went home to get change, and when I returned, someone had bought it: talked my neighbor down to $5. “Where’s the bin?” I asked. Oh, he used that to carry the books. I had just bought that for $7.50. Then we got lunch, and there went my $5.
