Got news for you, the coal jobs are already gone. Coal can’t compete with natural gas. Wouldn’t it be wiser for certain parts of the country not to be dependent on one industry for their economic survival?

They don’t really do coal on the West Coast.

She offered projects to help coal-belt workers find alternative employment that would, indeed, pay more for work with fewer health risks in industries with a better future. And Donald is offering to send them back down underground to die in the dark for massa. Your choice, Ohio.

Coal is not a good energy source. ..get over it. Vote for Clinton or face annihilation by the demented Trump.

Here’s a better idea: For those workers who earn minimum,or lower, wage – no taxes! No Fed tax, no State Tax, No County or City tax! That alone would give the low wage earners a boost. But, how about NO UNION DUES too! The low wage workers would take take home ALL their wages instead of 25 or less percent as they do now.

Hey Henry, coal mining is such a wonderful sweet job, why not get in on it for a few years. It will be like a vacation!

Henry – Clinton made a positive statement about the future of coal miners jobs and you are promoting the parsed sentence that lies. Work with the truth, there is plenty of material available.

Coal could be useful for economical graphene quantum dots, new skills would be needed for the good paying jobs.

Henry continues the right wing transition from Hatred Of Obama toHatred Of Hillary.

After claiming for Obama’s entire presidency that Obama already killed off the coal industry, now Hillary is supposedly killing the same already dead horse.

And it continues to amaze how Republicans/Fox “news” viewers absolutely loathe the idea of someone being able to live on their wages.

Crow Nobo: we have LOTS of coal in the west, all those trainloads heading to our ports to ship it to CHINA! Same for all that Bakken formation dirty crude that’s involved in our recent oil train fires and derailments. Which, wind is cheaper than coal, we’ve got a lot of wind, and solar is picking up even more, the west has lots of that as well, and cost is dropping, but much more efficient on solar if everyone has their own generation and storage(rooftops and underground battery storage or heat sumps), rather than transporting the energy so far on power lines or trains.

But the coal JOBS were done away with a long time ago with automation and mountaintop removal, the companies, not the government, did away with those jobs.

$15/hour is high for some locations, barely enough in others, the minimum wage should be scaled to local economies based on SMSA data, and local COL, not a blanket amount. Oregon recently looked at this, and it’s the smart way to go. While complains of “unfair” for some areas to get more than others, it does pay economics-wise to look at that actual cost of living, and finding that less may actually be MORE in some areas. That’s how all those Japanese and German companies got away with building factories in the south and fighting off unions, find cheap labor with low cost of living, and they will work for less and be happy.

On the other hand, Trump won’t raise the minimum wage, but will continue to outsource production of his crappy merchandise overseas.

I want to know who is sticking up for the whale oil workers? We need to keep those boys in business. And let’s not forget pay-phone manufacturers, what about them? As well as all the workers in the 8-track, VHS and beta-max manufacturing industry. They’re every bit as relevant as the coal industry is today.

Cheap natural gas made available by fracking has doomed the coal industry. Republicans talk out of both sides of their mouths, as usual. One candidate is realistic about the prospects of the coal industry & wants to help those workers transition to something else. The other one lies to their faces & says he’ll bring back coal jobs.

Increasing the minimum wage is the long way around to justifying increasing salaries of the most incompetent class of worker: the government employee.

Maybe they can find another dangerous job with low wages that results in polluting carcinogens in the air, water, and soil. Failing that, maybe they could just roam the roadways and prey on travelers with somewhat the same result.

Electing Hillary would be the worst thing that could happen, and this cartoon helps explain why.
